Thank you for committing to this 30 Day Christian Green Living Challenge with us! Each day as we step through our journey, I’ll share the challenge for the day then, depending on your green goals, I will share resources where you can learn more, dig deeper into the topic, or challenge yourself even more. We will do the challenge once *live* together, but you can participate anytime by joining in on the comments below and by using the hashtag #ChristianGreenLiving. So, when you’re ready, let’s Go Christian Green!
Pollution from cars and from frequent driving lowers our overall air quality and damages the environment. Today let’s think about green transportation.
If you live in the city, especially a larger city, you’ll have more options than those of us in the more rural areas, but that doesn’t mean we can’t find cleaner transportation or at least cleaner ways to use our transportation.
This article from the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency does a good job of showing us the advantages and disadvantages of the different types of transportation available to us: Walk, Bike, Public Transportation, Car Pool, Cleaner Cars. I love their first advantage of walking, “Can’t beat the price.” Read the full article HERE.
As a blogger, one option they missed (and one I think shouldn’t be overlooked) is working from home. It’s not the best option for everyone, but when you don’t drive to work, even if it’s only a couple of days per week, it can significantly reduce your personal amount of car pollution.
Today’s Day 14 Challenge:
Can I bike? How much do you use transportation? Do you have a cleaner option? How can you reduce your vehicle pollution this week?
Pray
In our prayers, let us remember those in India and other countries where people live every day with high levels of air pollution and pray for a future with healthier air for everyone.
Act
Challenge your transportation over the next week. Walk or bike if you can. Try carpooling or telecommuting occasionally. Try to group your errands into one trip, even if it means waiting until tomorrow to do it.
