Thank you for committing to this 30 Day Christian Green Living Challenge with us! Each day as we step through our journey, I’ll share the challenge for the day then, depending on your green goals, I will share resources where you can learn more, dig deeper into the topic, or challenge yourself even more. We will do the challenge once *live* together, but you can participate anytime by joining in on the comments below and by using the hashtag #ChristianGreenLiving. So, when you’re ready, let’s Go Christian Green!
Today we are changing focus just a little bit. A little less about how we can change our own personal habits and turn to service.
How can we brighten the world this week, month or year, and make it a little bit better?
Have you ever considered taking some time (depending on your ability) to volunteer or even lead a cleanup mission? Maybe help or plan for a group to go out and clean up a local hillside, your parish grounds, a local park, or even a beach across the world.
World CleanUp Day is in September, but we don’t have to wait. We can have a mini cleanup day any day, right in our own community.
Today’s Day 11 Challenge:
How can you make a difference in your neighborhood, your greater community, or even around the world?
Pray
In our prayers, let’s pray for God’s will in our service. Ask him to show us how we can best be his “hands” and his “feet” when caring for our common home.
Act
Act with intention and plan a cleanup time. Take a walk, a bike ride or some other outdoor activity today or sometime this week and collect and properly dispose of any trash and garbage you encounter. Say a prayer for the person who last touched the trash and for their green journey.
Bonus Action 1: Take a friend or your family with you and clean up together.
Bonus Action 2: Sign up to participate or lead a group on World CleanUp day or some other day. Maybe with one of your kid’s sports teams, youth group, or as an extended family activity.
Share
Share your plan for your cleanup activity or photos of what you’ve collected by commenting below and/or use the hashtag #ChristianGreenLiving. I’m looking forward to seeing how we’ve all made a difference together!
